Acadian Plant Heath™ is on a mission to feed the rapidly growing global population. We offer seaweed extracts that complete your crop programs and help you achieve the best yields. Increased yield is a combined effect of all the benefits of APH™ seaweed extract, but in particular its effects on crop size and number. Provided here are a several examples of how APH™ seaweed extract helps growers in their mission.
BENEFITS OF APH™ SEAWEED EXTRACT THAT INCREASE YIELD INCLUDE:
- Improved crop size
- Improved fruit number
- Improved quality
- Improved marketable yield
SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN, FIELD-TESTED SOLUTIONS
EFFECT ON SIZE AND YIELD OF APPLES
APPLE TRIAL ‘GALA’
VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES
Trees treated with APH™ seaweed extract yielded more Gala apples in most size categories. Additionally, the size of the fruit increased, as seen by the shift of fruit size distribution towards larger fruit sizes. These improvements in yield and quality will result in increased grower revenue.
Larger box size indicates smaller apples.
APPLE TRIALS ‘PINK LADY’, NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES
AND ‘GALA’, WASHINGTON STATE, UNITED STATES
Applications of APH™ seaweed extract increased yield of apples by approximately 20%. In addition, the apples produced form treated trees had better colour and improved size.
EFFECT ON SIZE AND NUMBER OF AVOCADOS
AVOCADO TRIAL ‘HASS’
In this study, the researchers evaluated flowering. Plants treated with APH™ seaweed extract had seven times more inflorescences, which resulted in an increase of the number of fruits per branch and in turn in 45% more fruit per square metre.
AVOCADO TRIAL ‘HASS’
Applications of APH™ seaweed extract resulted in larger fruit as demonstrated by a shift of fruit distribution towards larger sizes. In this trial, 32% of fruit from plants treated with APH™ seaweed extract fell in the three largest-size categories, compared to 11.7% for Control.
Larger size category indicates smaller avocados.
EFFECT ON SIZE AND YIELD OF CITRUS
SUMMARY OF CITRUS TRIALS
In several citrus trials, the percentage of fruit that were classified as the largest size category increased when trees were treated with APH™ seaweed extract. The average increase was 43%. Larger fruits demand a premium price leading to increase in gross return.
* The criteria for the largest size category differ depending on the type of the citrus fruit
CITRUS TRIAL ‘FUKUMOTO ORANGE’
In this trial, applications of APH™ seaweed extract increased yield and the percentage of exportable fruit. This led to a 24.2% increase in the exportable yield.
EFFECT ON SIZE AND NUMBER OF CUCURBITS
CANTALOUPE TRIAL ‘GOLD EXPRESS’
ARIZONA, UNITED STATES
In this trial, using APH™ seaweed extract applications resulted in a shift in fruit size distribution towards larger sizes as well as a 9.7% increase in overall yield. Since larger sizes receive a better price, this resulted in an even more impressive 27% increase in grower’s gross revenue.
APH™ seaweed extract increased the number of cucurbits harvested in 17 of 19 trials. The average cucurbit number increase was 10.4%. Increase in number and size (see trial results above) lead to increased gross return.
EFFECT ON SIZE AND YIELD OF CORN
CORN DEMONSTRATION TRIAL
ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES
This picture shows a typical result of the effect of APH™ seaweed extract on corn development. The ears from treated plants have more kernels around and their kernels are deeper (larger). These improvements lead to higher yield.
CORN FIELD TRIALS
NORTH CAROLINA AND WISCONSIN, UNITED STATES
Making the best use of available nitrogen is important, regardless of a farmer’s fertility practices. If nitrogen is abundant, it is important that the nitrogen is taken up into the plant, contributing to high yields, and not leaching. If nitrogen fertility is low, it is extremely important that the crop makes the best possible use of what is available.
These corn trials show that APH™ seaweed extract helps your crop make the best possible use of available nitrogen. Corn yield was increased in regular as well as reduced-nitrogen programs in both locations.

EFFECT ON NUMBER OF GRAINS AND YIELD OF RICE
RICE TRIAL ‘F-60’
Strong rice yields depend on several factors including the effectiveness with which the plants fill the grains. Rice plants treated with APH™ seaweed extract were able to fill more grains per spike or head.
RICE FIELD TRIALS
VARIOUS LOCATIONS, UNITED STATES
In four field trials conducted in United States, rice yield increased 8.2% on average when APH™ seaweed extract was added to the standard application program.
